“OLDBOY” SCREENWRITER HWANG JOYOON TO MAKE STREAMING SERIES DEBUT WITH “GOLD LAND” – A KOREAN ORIGINAL CRIME THRILLER COMING EXCLUSIVELY TO DISNEY+

 


Disney+ today announced that Light Shop Keeper star Park Boyoung and No Way Out: The Roulette star Kim Sung Cheol will be returning to the service in a fast-paced new Disney+-exclusive crime thriller, “Gold Land”.

 

Written by famed Oldboy screenwriter Hwang Joyoon, Gold Land is a thrilling new series about Heeju, a girl from a sleepy backwater town who accidentally came into possession of gold bars from a smuggling organization. Suddenly finding herself in a van full of gold and on the run from some of Korea’s most dangerous men, Heeju hurtles towards the one place she swore she’d never return.

 




Gold Land stars Park Boyoung as Kim Heeju, a determined woman desperate to escape her past, and Kim Sungcheol (No Way OutTroll Factory) as Jang Wook (a.k.a Woogy), a member of the criminal organization chasing Heeju and someone who lived in the same neighborhood as her when they were young. The series is written by Oldboy screenwriter Hwang Joyoon (RampantMemoir of a Murderer) and is directed by visionary director Kim Sunghoon (Chief Detective 1958Confidential Assignment).





 

Gold Land is the latest series to be announced as part of an eagerly anticipated slate of upcoming Korean content on Disney+. Fans of unmissable Korean storytelling can also look forward to the recently announced Delusion (working title), about a vampire in mourning, as well as Low Life about backstabbing degenerates desperate to recover a life-changing treasure; and Tempest about a diplomat and a special agent racing to uncover the truth behind an attack that threatens the stability of the Korean peninsula.
