"River Where the Moon Rises" Production Company Wins Partial Victory in Lawsuit Against Ji Soo's Former Agency

The production company of KBS River "Where the Moon Rises"  Victory Contents, has partially won the lawsuit for damages against KeyEast, the former agency of  Jisoo, who was forced to leave the drama due to school violence controversy. With this, KeyEast must pay Victory Contents approximately 1.4 billion won with interest.

The case stems from allegations of school violence against Ji Soo, which surfaced in 2021 shortly after the drama's first six episodes aired. Ji Soo admitted to some of the accusations and subsequently withdrew from the project.

The production team had to re-filmed all 20 episodes after the controversy broke out (7-20 during drama airing & 1-6 after it). This extensive re-filming process was a significant financial burden for Victory Contents, leading them to file the lawsuit against KeyEast.

In a recent interview, Ji Soo apologized to the person who first brought up the allegations, stating that rumors about him spread and became established facts despite his innocence.

Currently, Ji Soo is in the Philippines establishing a career in GMA Tv Network, where he is currently starring in the series "Black Rider."

The court's decision highlights the legal consequences of school violence allegations in the entertainment industry and the financial burden they can place on production companies. It also underscores the impact of online rumors and their potential to damage an individual's reputation.
